Recent News

On May 13-18, the first Ethiopian Dance Art Association National Conference was held in Addis Ababa, gathering dance artists from Addis Ababa, Hawassa, Harer, Dirediwa and Bahidar.


 

The founding of Ethiopian Dance Art Association (EDAA) is a milestone towards sustained support and recognition for Ethiopian dance in our country and internationally. We are proud that this historical step was taken by our generation of Ethiopian dancers.

  • Our Work

    Through funding from the International Fund for Cultural Diversity, UNESCO, Ethiopian Dance Art Association is implementing the project “Strengthening Capacities within the Dance Sector in Ethiopia.”

  • Books for Africa

    EDAA has partnered with Books for Africa to build a dance library for the Association. We have appealed to 12 publishers and over 20 universities in the U.S. to offer books on dance and dance research. Our goal is to have 2000 dance-related books shipped to EDAA in fall 2022.   • News & Announcements

    In July 2021, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ethiopia presented awards to cultural and arts professionals in Ethiopia. This is the first time in Ethiopian history when dance artists were recognized at the national level, on par with artists of other disciplines. This recognition became reality as a result of Ethiopian Dance Art Association leaders’ advocacy at the level of the Ministry.
